I've thought and thought about what it IS that pisses off the Regressives so much about Bill Clinton. I think it has everything to do with the progress of society from the 1950s through the 90s. That marvelous period of not only financial prosperity, but opportunity for minorities to become self-actualized, in a way, culminated -- now that we have a few years of retrospect to see it -- during Clinton's eight-year presidency. A major component was/is the "emancipation of women." If, for example, women who are 22 or 24 or 26 or so, want to have sex, they do it. Without guilt and all of that other Victorian nonsense. I very much doubt that Monica Lewinsky -- nor her parents, actually -- had or have any regrets about her dalliance with Clinton. To the contrary: it put her on the map. In such context, the Bush administration is driving financial and social regression for one -- and one purpose only: to sublimate the people to the will of the wealthiest one percent of barons and kings of the world. There are many people here on SI who articulate this much better than I do. lb
