92 per cent support Musharraf’s performance

KARACHI: A survey conducted by Karachi University indicated that 92 percent of respondents supported the policies of President General Pervez Musharraf.

The survey, entitled “Public opinion on the performance and implementation of various reforms in Pakistan by the government of President Musharraf”, was conducted by an associate professor in the Department of Social Works, Dr Nasreen Aslam Shah.

She was assisted by research associate Muhammad Nadeemullah and student Muhammad Faisal Zia.

A statement from the department said that in order to gauge the public opinion, the team surveyed the city of Karachi which is also called a `mini Pakistan’.

A total of 225 interviews were carried out.

The questions asked were:

n Do you agree with President Musharraf’s slogan `Pakistan First’?

n Are you satisfied with the reforms in education made by the president?

n Are you satisfied with the representation of the women in the assembly?

n Do you understand that the present government is leading towards economic uplift of the country?

n Are you satisfied with the right to vote at the age of 18?

n Are you satisfied with the government’s policies of transferring the powers to the public?

n Do you agree with the president’s statement that the assemblies would complete their terms?

n Are you satisfied with the president’s action to restore the nation’s wealth?

n Are you satisfied with president’s effort to eliminate terrorism at the national and international level?

n Are you satisfied with the foreign policy?

n Do you believe that President Musharraf should continue in the office for another five years? —APP
