OT - JFK and 9/11:
I assume many of us are old enough to remember the terrible events of JFK's assination.
I wonder, which event, JFK's assination, or 9/11 had a bigger personal effect on each of us, and which did you think was a bigger event for the nation.
my personal take. i was a freshman in college when JFK was killed. I had rooted him home in the election against Nixon, and it was wonderful to have a young vibrant president compared to Grandpa Eisenhower. I was totally devastated.
So, from my perspective, JFK was a much larger personal experience. By the time 9/11 happened, we had lived in a world with bombings, terrorist attacks etc. This was a BIG ONE on our home turf.
But I feel that the reprucussions of 9/11 on the history of the US and the World will be far greater than the death of JFK. larry
