I think folks who want a strong tie between government and religion generally assume that the adopted religion will be theirs, and that's not necessarily so.

If these "theocrats" are born and bred Americans I would think that they have just as clear an understanding of what our constitution says regarding religion and state as every other born and bred American.

And as to these "folks who want a strong tie between government and religion" I suspect they are an even smaller minority than groups that are pushing for gay marriage or groups that want a stronger tie between our government and socialism.

Or are you talking about fundamental Islamofacsists?
