The problem is that Wallmart is in a position to dominate markets and they set the competitive compensation packages. Wallmart sets a horrible standard for compensation.

GE and others for example as moved many customer service and back office operations to India.

So for cheaper products and services, those of us who still have jobs will pay for higher welfare costs to pay for those who either have a job that no longer supports them adequately or their $9 hour customer service job got shipped to India.

It will be interesting to see how the US economy manages over the next 20 years as manufacturing jobs move overseas and service jobs follow Wallmart and GE's example. Many people of average capabilities will be hard pressed to find a job that offers a decent compensation package. The new era in natural gas prices will only force more industry overseas as well seeking lower energy prices.

I told my sons, one of them who is in college and the other in HS that with the economies growing as they are in Asia they had better shift their focus from learning Spanish to learning a Chinese language. Any suggestions on which language would be most useful in Asian business other than English?

I take great efforts to avoid Wallmart, Lowes or Sam's club on principle.
