Folks should read the new book "the two income trap". Young folks today are overwhelmed by both medical costs/insurance and the costs of living in a school district where education actually occurs (or affording private schools in bad districts). Add to that high tax burdens and the costs of child care, you have a potential disaster in the making.
Libertarians never get this and talk about children as a choice and some say a bad choice the young make. This flys in the face of human history and preservation of the species.
This problem is now at near crisis proportions and neither the socialist democrats of the libertarian republicans address the issue in any meaningful fashion. I think the time has come for a new party that ultimately replaces one of the two other parties and changes the debate from size & cost of government to one about the effectiveness of government and the use of the private sector to support government. I like guys like McCain, Lieberman, Bayh, Biden, & Giuliani to be founding fathers. MIke
