What is your definition of long term?

I was looking at some Canadian government debt the other day and there was a 200 basis point advantage to buying your debt vs CD's here in the states six months out in time. As the time increased I was quoted an increasing spread between the CD's and Canadian debt. I was looking at inventory out through 2007.
