A GOP ex-Congressman writes of "Breach of Faith"

"In Washington, power is like morphine," Coburn writes. "It dulls the senses, impairs judgment, and leads politicians to make choices that damage their own character and the machinery of our democracy."

He believes that most members of Congress are either ignorant of or indifferent to constitutional guidelines.

Some, Coburn says, are not above assaulting the truth to win points.

"It is chilling that today's spinmeisters have more in common with the intellectual heritage of Hitler's propaganda minister than our founders," he said.
