On a practical matter
points 2-3-4 are probably not possible.
point 5 is possibly not possible (if that makes sense to you)
Although I feel all points SHOULD be undertaken and the results would show it, as a practical matter lets reconsider the post as follows:
(I would gladly settle out of court right now for these) IMO These are quite practical if Clark or ANYONE with half a brain is elected)
Removal of 2-3-4-5 takes a lot of emotion out of the post and is far more practical, even though I really feel Bush is guilty of treason.
BTW I forgot critical point #35, added below.
Here goes:
#1) Elect Clark perferably but anyone but Bush will do
#6) Pledge to rebuild Iraq and US soldiers will help, driving trucks, laying bricks or whatever
#7) Offer on #6 is dependant on US attacks on US soldiers stopping
#8) Turn over most military resposibilty in Iraq to the UN
#9) Set a timetable for removal of all US forces in the mid-East
#10) Let all countries bid on the process of rebuilding Iraq
#11) Iraq subcontractors are to get 65% of the work under proposal #10
#12) US pledges neutrality on Israel/Palestine issues
#13) US condemns Israeli aggression in front of the entire UN
#14) US condemns Palestinian terrorism in front of entire UN
#15) US removes all monetary support for Israel unless Israel agrees to meet with arab nations to resolve Palestinian crisis
#16) US removes all monetary support for Arab nations unless they agree to meet with Israel to resolve Palestinian crisis
#17) If one side in 15 or 16 fails to agree to talks, that side alone gets cut off from aid
#18) A timetable is set for resolution of the Palestinian crisis. If no timetable is agreed to, the US pulls monetary supprt from both sides and remains neutral.
#19) A pricetag is put on Hussein, his top men, and OBL and his top men. Anyone turning in any higher ramking member is given cash and amnesty. We are going after the head of the snake.
#20) If Hussein is captured he is tried for crimes against Iraq by the people of Iraq.
#22) If Hussein is not guilty, he is tried in international court for crimes against humanity.
#23) The US pledges non-agression against North Korea is North Korea will stop nuclear program.
#24) The US agrees to sponsor re-unification talks between North and South Korea
#25) The US sets a timetable for removal of all troops from Europe and Japan
#26) Those troops will be redeployed in the US protecting our borders. They will live in the US, be paid in the US, have housing in the US and spend their money in the US instead of Japan, Germany and wherever. If Germany and Japan and France decide they need troops, they can defend themselves.
#28) US stops spending money on nuclear weapons research and weapons
#29) US beefs up tactical weapons programs, helicoptors, etc.
#30) US soldiers are retrained to inspect cargo ships at all US ports of entry. We vow to secure our borders from attack
#31) US puts a price on the heads of palestinian and all terrorists.
Once again amnesty is granted to anyone turning these people in. Trials are in International court. Once again we go after the head of the snake not the tail.
#32) US warns countries suspected of harboring international terrorists of actions by the US and sanctions by the UN.
#33) US agrees to sit at the table and discuss any and all issues with Germany, France, and England (both one on one and 4 on 4 so that all isuues are on the table)
#34) Starwars (SDI) is scrapped
#35) The "patriot" act is trashed and thrown on the garbage heap of ideas where it belongs.
I think you get the basic idea.
What we are doing is only making things worse.
We need to understand grievances rather than ignore them.
We need to be more tolearnt of opposing viewpoints and less dogmatic about ours.
We need to agree and abide by international law.
We need to secure our own borders and become more hesitant to but our way into problems without UN approval.
It should be very clear that the track we are on is totally wrong and that going back to the middle will not work. This does not give in to any terrorists as evidinced by rewards put on various criminals including our own. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that this will dramatiaclly reduce terrorism everywhere in the world. Unfortunately there is much doubt that it stands more than a snowballs chance in hell of happening.
