I think they'll be out of business rather than assimilated. There are few entities (one fewer as of this past May) for whom an acquisition of RB would make sense.

The advertising environment is picking up a lot of steam, but if their ad impressions are shrinking (which I'm certain they are since there's such a long-running exodus of their users), they're either losing a lot of money or soon will be.

If we did somehow end up acquiring RB (which is something I might consider in a few months when I've got SI the way I want it and largely on auto-pilot), I'd likely just shut down posting access to it and have all of the users choose SI or iHub for posting and just make RB a searchable message archive. And add an RB-like interface to both sites for those who prefer that interface, much like our current plans to add an iHub-like interface to SI and have that interface be the one containing all the features we'll eventually get added.
