Last year when i was paying my bill at a local restaurant the owner took the senior citizen discount off my bill without me asking. I said I didnt want it and that she should give it to the young family behind me who needed it more than I. Older seniors in the restaurant looked at me in disgust. One said "we paid our dues".

Bless you. When I was young and forward, I asked my very well off grandmother what she thought about giving up her monthly ss check so that the younger generation would have an easier time of it. Her response was almost violent. I had too much respect for my elders to call her selfish, but she didn't need one penny of that money. We were struggling to buy our kids shoes, but we always made sure we paid our ss tax.

My husband also turns down the senior discount......I would too, but I don't qualify yet ;)
