WD drives already are a few $'s higher than same spec MXO and STX drives. Because their warranty is longer (3 - 5 years on some models). And they are of higher perceived quality. A few days ago I bought an 80-GB WD drive for $73 instead of the Maxtor drive for $68, or the STX drive on sale for $49.
