IDG News Service, 8/12/97

MCI Corp. and Bell Canada yesterday announced the commercial availability of ATM
(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) services between the U.S. and Canada.

Users subscribing to the services will be ale to connect Canadian sites in Ontario and
Quebec and sites throughout the U.S. at speeds ranging from 1.5M bit/sec to 155M
bit/sec, according to company officials.

The service is targeted at users running multimedia, telemedicine, CAD-CAM,
three-dimensional imaging, credit-card processing or financial applications.

Bell Canada services Ontario and Quebec, but efforts are under way to expand
cross-boarder ATM connections between the U.S. and all of Canada via Stentor, the
association of Canadian telecommunications companies to which Bell Canada belongs,
according to officials.

Future services also include frame relay-to-ATM internetworking and a range of
managed networking services, officials said.

And for the "what will they think of next category"......
