The US has to lead on the envionment not scotch global cooperation. When Bush first went to Europe he had two priorities, destroy Kyoto and shove SDI down everyone's throats. Nither one of these ideas were sensible and prior to 9-11 Bush said not a single word about terrorism. My laser physicist friend at Rice University (head of the department) tells me SDI doesn't work and may never work. He said "they don't have anything yet" meaning anything useful for national defense. 11 billion down the drain?
