Pittsburgh • MPM Adviser Platika Takes Helm at Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse By VentureWire Staff Reporters 11/17/2003 The Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse, a partnership formed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to capitalize on biotechnology research within the state, said it has appointed Doros Platika as chief executive officer. Dr. Platika joins the Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse (PLSG) from Boston-based venture firm MPM Capital, where he had served as a scientific adviser. He succeeds Donald Smith Jr., who has served as interim chief executive since January when Dennis Yablonsky, PLSG founding CEO, left to become Pennsylvania's secretary of the Department of Community and Economic Development. Prior to joining MPM Capital, Dr. Platika served as president and CEO of Cambridge-based biotech firm Centagenetix, until its merger this February with Elixir Pharmaceuticals. He previously was founding chairman, president, and CEO of Cambridge-based Curis, a biotech company that develops regenerative medicine therapies. Dr. Platika has also served on the faculty of both Harvard Medical School and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
