Certainly hope so....they keep crying about walmart as an excuse (the supers) when walmart is a non issue here.
no food ones around and local communities have started going Anti Big Box stores.....
LATimes is worth reading for the past three days....
8 PAGES on Walmart and the horrible price that comes with people just interested in one lousy thing....low prices.
when the real costs of the goods are not in monetary value as much as culture, smaller towns, a way of life being lost, and people working for lower wages with lower benefits.
With the teamsters on board right now for the peak holiday season it should sober up the giants like Safeway.
They are really spoiled brats and deserve nothing....they have constantly merged together with the approval of regulators until there are only THREE SOURCES OF FOOD for most market areas. And in most cases, only one brand of market available to many areas as they have not made good on their "promises" to open in lower income areas where people really need decent markets. but NO.....after a while they just figure that they can let us forget the promises and they don't do anything. They leave whole areas without anything but small, very expensive, local markets and liquor stores.
When you see the replacements, you really appreciate the people who serve you at your market. It's a place where you see the same sales/service people on a more regular basis than anything else....except maybe your latte spot.
Anyway..I don't even go to Ralph's (who doesn't have pickets) because they a very questionable deal to share revenues with the other two supermarkets who DO have pickets....I think it's illegal, and they may have to stop.
That's this side of it.....one thing is for sure....Trader Joe's and Whole Foods are REALLY doing well by this.
