Bush is the worst president of our lifetimes, so anyone who can beat him I am solidly behind for the good of our country, democracy, our pocketbooks and the whole planet.

Kerry is clearly the best choice but I was very impressed with Clark in the debate two days ago. He's coming into his own. Then again, no one deserves the presidency more than Al Gore. Therefore he's my wild card candidate in case dean is not stopped by February or March. I am convinced that dean is the Dukakis of 2004.

But don't count out Kerry yet. When he was behind against William Weld, the most popular governor in Massachusetts history, he fought back and won. He also has a lot of ammo up in New Hampshire and has only begun to fight there. He's concentrating on Iowa right now because a strong second or third there will help him in NH.

If it were a smaller field, Kerry would take out any comers. Mano-a mano he can beat Dean or anyone else but the centrists are splitting the non-Dean vote five ways and both the far right and far left are ganging up on Kerry because they're most threatened by him. No other candidate has has to endure one tenth the amount of attacks as Kerry.
Some of it sticks.

It's not fair but politics is a messy business so fair doesn't matter as much as winning. John will just have to fight back and win, or not. If he can convince 10% more New Hampshire voters to go with him over Dean, he wins or ties. Dean is only beginning to be questioned by the press and may get slammed a lot more now. The GOP is continuing to lay off Dean but that ruse is starting to get attention.
Dean is also very weak on foreign affairs which is becoming the biggest issue against Bush.

Bush hasn't done one thing right overseas since Afghanistan, and nothing before that. It has been hugely expensive for the US and has made us less safe not more safe. He also bailed out of Afghanistan too early, a mistake we made in the 80's which brought us Bin Lauden.

I'll say this, it should be a very interesting next three months and don't assume Dean has won ANYTHING yet. Also it's now the start of the horse race it's the finish that matters.
