jpg,

I had the same thing with my Mother-in-Law. We'd debate
our positions for hours. We'd go at it hot & heavy at
times too.

I just had to laugh a little bit here as I recalled how
she occasionally would greet my arrival armed with some
points she wanted to make from our previous debate. My
wife (girlfriend at the time) would roll her eyes knowing
that the next hour or two would be consumed by our
politics.

One thing we never let it do was for it to get personal. I
don't think we ever ended one of our political discussions
mad at each other. We had clearly differing ideologies,
but we both shared a common trait - we distrusted most
politicians & had contempt for politicians who betrayed
our trust, regardless of their party affiliation.

As much as I disagreed with her, I respected her. I think
she felt the same way - she never would have let me marry
her daughter if she didn't <gg>.

I miss those days <sigh>.
