Historically we have always seen a rise in inflation and interest rstes in Britain prior to the North American countries being effected. It has always been a forerunner to inflation and particularily interest rate increasees in North America. The Bank of England increased rates on July 10/97 and again last week. The rate is now 7% , considerably higher than in North America. Where do we go from here in N.A. ? ? 1998 could be interesting and when we have a head of U.S. steam in place such as we have now it will not be all that easy to slow down !!
