Hey buddy, Bush lied to congress. That was just a year after 9-11 too and right after Afghanistan when we were supposed to trust our president.

Don't buy the Dean BS that senators who voted for war resolutions were pro-war and wrote Bush a blank check. They were pro America at the time and trusted Bush, at least they were hoping they could trust him. Bush promised invasion only as a last resort, and to work through the UN and have a post-war plan. 70% of Americans were behind going after Saddam under those conditions, but what Bush did after that was blame the UN for being irrelevant, say my way or the highway, ignored the inspectors and decided to invade no matter what anyone else thought.

We were all very uneasy about this but we were praying Bush knew what he was doing. He didn't. Dean didn't have to vote yes or no. He never had to make that tough choice and neither did Clark. If Kerry could have voted "maybe later under these conditions" which was actually the right call he would have but the GOP Senate didn't offer him that choice. Instead, Kerry made the vote then gave his conditions.

BTW: If Bush had been telling the truth Dean would have been wrong about not taking Saddam out. An imminent nuclear threat and Al Qaida connections is after all very serious. Only it didn't exist.
