On a more optimistic note, I've just heard Robt Wright talking on ThinkTank about his new book "Nonzero", about evolutionary biology, where he studies mankind's trek from family unit to village to nation-state, to present-day globalization. His tentative conclusion is that all this brain-damage we're going through now is birthing pains on the way to an inevitable more civilized global federation. I ordered it, haven't got it yet. amazon.com He's missing one part, tho' I fear, which is the relentlessly increasing lethality of technology, so it's a race between that and getting rid of the human Megalomania virus. Wright thinks we've got centuries, I think it's more like 20 years to reach a go/no-go point.
