mep-

That quote was cited by Ray from a MOVEON advertisement.

i know.

but i wanted to address it and i wanted to post
my spiel to you because i thought you might
like it. ;-)

"there is no journalistic
code of ethics... no oath or obligation
to be either fair or balanced."- elpolvo

I wonder what the Deans from Journalism schools would say.

you're right. there are journalistic codes of ethics.
i found a good one here:

spj.org

these codes are good guidelines for professional
journalists but not a requirement for actually
"being" a journalist. a "degree" in journalism is
not required either. that's fine by me. i say,
"caveat tabloideus emptor."

...commercial press is in business to make money.
PBS news might be an exception.

PBS is not commercial press... they have benefactors
other than advertisers to please... (read - other
financial pressures)

expecting absolute truth from "the media" is like asking
100,000 artists to paint a portrait of the universe
and expecting to see 100,000 identical canvases.
