Your logic sounds good, but I wonder how sound it is.

A group of - let's call them squatters - settles an area which was, in practical terms, a desert. They manage to receive international recognition for their new country. They survive several wars against overwhelmingly larger neighbors.

Almost 60 years later, after they created an advanced democratic nation - and nothing short of an economic miracle - some still expect it to dissolve and to go away.

Maybe today, on this Thanksgiving Day, we should seriously discuss returning America to the indigenous tribes? Or, Russia - why shouldn't they reverse the annexation of Siberia, so that they could come into compliance with the current day's sensitivities?

How much water under the bridge - and how many more wars - should it take to join Egypt - or Prince Abdullah - and to recognize Israel? For, for as long as so many thoughtful people question their right to exist, why shouldn't Arafat?
