Yes Kerry needs to place 2nd in Iowa. The Iowa governor sounds very positive on Kerry. Says he can still win. A lot of this is about perception. Anyone who is perceived as being unable to win will lose support. Kerry has gotten hitten hard in the media from both sides but the fact is he CAN still win. The race is Iowa is close enough so that you could even have a three-way tie. That would hurt Gephardt and help Kerry. Dean and Gephardt both have the problem of high expectations.

Clark made a mistake not competing in Iowa IMHO.
