What would it take to eliminate the fiscal imbalance? Here are some options?

-- double the current payroll tax of 15.3 percent, with no cap;

-- increase federal income taxes by two-thirds;

-- cut Social Security and Medicare benefits by 45 percent;

-- eliminate all federal discretionary spending.
