Bush gets relected , no one to run against him.. He didn't need to put himself and those who flew with him in harms way. His poll numbers are way too low, he can't win anywhere but the south. I think Carl Rove is in panic mode right now and he should be with a candidate where over 40% of voters say they "absolutely will not vote for Bush". Either he turns this mess around or bows out. Conclusion- this was a publicity stunt and he had to do it for his political survival. What he SHOULD do, of course, is follow LBJs plan and not seek re-election. Bush's poll numbers are worse than LBJ it looks like.
