It was not that the danger came directly from Iraq at the time Bush lobbied to enter that country. The point was to force Iraq to uphold its obligations before the danger became clear and present. Saddam had a clear obligation to the world, which he failed to meet for 12 years. That alone suggested he had unsavory aims and that if he was not yet a threat to America, he was pressing to become one. In a post 9-11 world, it was vital to eliminate this potential threat.
