What plans were there aside from protecting the Oil Ministry? The PPIC et al had the absurdly childish expectation that we would be greeted by the Iraqis as liberators with flowers and flags. The PPIC et al were unprepared to deal with the reality of the situation because they were unwilling to deal with reality itself. Many knew what the underlying problems in Iraq were but the PPIC listened to Chalabi (who expected to take Saddam's place as the 'leader' of Iraq) instead of composing an intelligent, realistic, fluid strategy based on facts. Note that you're still wrong, I'm not a Democrat.
