since my initial post, I discovered 3 other potentially important POV's from the Iraqi people :

1. Typical Arabic custom is that you do not barge into a person's place, without permission or invitation.

2. Even if you screwed up on #1, you do not leave until you partake in the hospitality that your host provides, and you leave with appropriate 'goodbye' gestures made.

3. This one is more political, than cultural : Saddam used to sneak in/out of places on a regular basis. Some Iraqis are saying "Hey Mr Bush has done the same kinda thing, whats the difference ?"
