Hi h0db; Re: "I was wondering if you had any thoughts on our next war: China-Taiwan."

There will be no China-Taiwan war. Eventually Taiwan will be peacefully incorporated into China.

For a historical analogy, look to the absorption of Texas by the United States. But unlike that situation, there is no alternative country asserting sovereignty over Taiwan. The analogy is based on the connections between the large absorbing country and the small absorbed country in terms of linguistic and cultural similarities. Birds of a feather flock together, at least if they're geographically close enough.

So the situation in Taiwan will continue until the day when the Taiwanese feel that being a part of China is better than being just another sh:tty little country.

A similar argument can be made for other regions of the world where separate countries speak the same language. An example is Austria and Germany, which briefly combined under Hitler, and now seem destined to combine again under the EU. There has been talk for years about Canada, or parts of Canada, joining up with the US, but no one talks about Mexico doing the same.
