Hi Christine, I like your idea for this thread. The threads I regularly follow (SEXI, ADGI, ISGI) like to deal with the business at hand, although there have been some excellent humourous comments, as well. I too, feel like writers today don't use enough commas, not nearly enough. I love commas, thought maybe there was something wrong with me for feeling that way. Maybe we need to start a Comma Appreciation Society, or something.
Feelings about The Market? Well, I just recently sold some mutual funds in order to get into more individual stocks (like the ones mentioned above). I think what I feel right now is - neutral, or somehow detached from the whole thing. I'm not worried, or thinking of selling. In fact, I'd like to sell more mutual funds to take advantage of the current low stock prices, but alas, since my mutuals are just aglomerations of stocks, they ,too, are down. I guess I'm content to wait for the turn-around. There always seems to be one, sooner or later. At least, I think I'm in some of the right places.
I find that since I discovered SI back in May (seems much longer than that), I'm spending hours here every day. Sometimes I worry that its becoming my virtual social life, because its so readily and easily available, anytime, day or night. Checking my email has gotten to be more exciting than going to my group-box for the real thing. I have a solitary tendency already, and this medium allows me to indulge in it even more. However, the variety of people one can meet here is amazing, and keeps drawing me back, time and again. After following an individual's posts for a while, I start to feel like I'm getting to know her/him, even though we have never actually corresponded with each other. Feels almost like eavesdropping on someone else's life, but in a friendly sort of way.
I think more nowadays about what I'm 'feeling', trying to describe it, even verbalize it. I think that's good for guys to do. After reading just a little of "Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus", I wonder how men and women have ever been able to relate to one another. The human race should already be extinct from a lack of ability to effectively communicate! Maybe this thread will help to correct that, for all of us.
Geez, I sound serious. I think I need to go outside and enjoy the sunshine and the heat for a while.
Later.
