Exactly where does he say he knows world opinion? The closest he comes is his assertion that people are boycotting French products. I doubt that's widespread anywhere, even in the US. But other than that, what assertion are you taking issue with?

The point of his post was not to speak for the world - it was to address Lizzie's obvious confusion over the difference between the media and the people. He raised the issue in a prior post, and she replied with more newspaper headlines, effectively claiming the media accurately reflects public opinion. She was the one claiming to speak for world opinion of the US, not him. I expect her to be dense and not understand Selectric's point - it is rare that she even listens, much less understands - but I thought you'd get the point.
