This is the total lack of understanding that the PPIC et al brings to this war. This will likely go down in history as the most confused, incompetent bunch of arrogant numnutzes ever to wield a Bradley or a Blackhawk. These are the confused people who have control over enough nuclear weaponry to destroy the world?

Powell and other military leaders told them to use overwhelming force. 230K deployed to SA in the Gulf War just to push Saddam out of Kuwait and now we're down to 130K to cover the entire country?

Academics and analysts told them that Iraq was full of different ethnic factions and it would be difficult, if even possible, to make it work like the US.

Many questioned the idea (heck, some of the were actors even) of flowers and flags greeting us a la Paris. Heck, they were right.

Many told them that they should not make this a unilateral event and that the UN and our traditional European allies should be involved. They said we would need their money, their troops and their backing. Heck, they were right also.

Now, after multiple nonstarter plans for government, the PPIC et al wants very much to prevent democratic national elections. How ironic is this turn of events?

On this last point, the PPIC et al needs to tread very carefully. Otherwise it looks as if we invaded for oil and control, not for democracy.
