I have high esteem for doctors as physicians and as practical scientists. Why should this mean that they could be good leaders?

I have several close friends who are MDs, and a few have have almost messianic self-evaluations and somewhat elitist attitudes. That doesn't stop them from being good friends, but they don't take criticism very well. I realize this is a stereotype, but it is borne out by my experience.

What I'm saying here really doesn't matter. If you agree with Dean on the issues, then vote for him. But, it's easy to prove that merely voting against someone is a suboptimal strategy. I don't agree with Dean at all, and don't agree with Bush on a lot of issues. So I'm stuck.
