My favorite story is from the GOP woman whose card said she was an attorney with SAIC, who was one of the smartest briefers I've heard, telling me about progress since 9/11, who didn't miss a beat when I indicated doubts about the Bush folk's innocence, and said, "well, in any case it was worth it, look at all we're accomplishing". Absolute amorality, power not as a means but as the final goal.
Ay Carumba, Hombre! We need to get this one on tape. She's a co-conspirator, and I think we can nail her to a cross of MTBE vapors. Have you ever considered wearing a wire? Stuff like that "off the cuff" comment can be devastating in the right circumstances.
That she said something like that does not surprise me in the least. The messianic delusions of the Republican upper echelons is breathtaking. They really are deluded enough to think that they are on a mission from Godâ„¢ (pat. pend.), as long as he's a good Christian corporate type.
I still can't figure out this type to this day. John D. Rockefeller, Sr. was the most conniving, ruthless, illegal and immoral competitor in the oil business in the early days, yet he never missed a chance to teach Sunday school at his Baptist Church. What makes these hypocrites tick? I've looked them up in the OED and "greed" is no where near "god". How did it get that way for these Holy Rollers and Revival tent hucksters? |
