The military said a soldier was seriously wounded when a roadside bomb struck a convoy traveling near the town of Samarra, north of Baghdad.

Shit happens!

I just found out a little while ago that the soldier in this story is my Master Sergeant step-brother.
He was wearing protective gear but took shrapnel in both arms, legs and face.
He called home this morning to say he is fine and getting royal medical treatment at a military hospital at Baghdad Airport. He does not consider his wounds to be serious and credits that to his gear.

He is tough and ornery...I'm certain he is OK but the parents are a mess. My dad said our family now has a personal stake in this war. I simply agreed. Then told him we might get to see Bill before his scheduled return date of December 23.
