Saddam has been too weakened to come back into power at this point. Some new strong man will arise in the country.

Besides, Saddam has always been a CIA asset. He get his first contract with "the Firm" in 1959. The bogeyman image that you seem to viscerally respond to was largely the result of his actions during the Iran-Iraq war. And remember that we were his allies at that time, propping him up against the Ayatollahs.

Most of the recent brouhaha about the "mass graves" that the Bushies are so breathless discovering and trotting out to the gullible media to distract them from inquiries into the missing WMDs are most likely the result of the betrayal of the Kurds and Shiites by George H.W. Bush in the aftermath of Bush's call for uprisings at the end of the first Gulf War.

At every stage of Saddam's purported evil regime, he's been aided, abetted and coordinated by the realpolitick crowd at the CIA, DoD and the State Department.

Saddam is largely the creation of the CIA. Why don't you think we can control him now?
