Taking a broader view : the 2 senators are on the Armed Services Comittee. Perhaps its part of their job in this capacity, to meet troops ? Re cost : theres enough Pork Barelling going on, on both sides of the aisle - so thats a futile topic for discussion.

YES, it is the duty of Senators and US Reps to check out what is going on within their sphere of responsibilities.

If ANYONE were to go from that Committee, wouldn't you think it would have been the Chairmen, one of each party? Or even, if those chairmen appointed one from each side of the aisle who is on the Committee to go..........

BUT I didn't see that happening, did you?

Did you think the entire committee should have gone? Or better yet, every single one of the Senators.......Gads...just thought what an unmittigated terrible trip that would be for the pilots and Military who had to deal with them

...a few leaks there, and here, a few bottles too many in the luggage...a few who never can be on time for anything..

But seriously, I certainly agree with you...plenty of money is being spent, everywhere in DC. But that doesn't mean one has to just stand by, and let it continue...Heavens, we seem to have expensive investigations for just about everything back there in DC....How about another one?

And yes, tomorrow, hopefully the Government offices will be back from the Thanksgiving Holiday. I do plan on making a few calls tomorrow. <g>
