Are any of the democrats pointing to a direction that you WOULD want the nation to move to. Please be specific if you care to respond.

Well, by direction I assume you mean economic direction... this is only one element of government but assuming that is all there is...

As far as I know... no democrat is pushing for a flat tax. Republicans have pushed for flat taxes but here is the kicker- they leave social security off their tax equation, which means the cost to bear for entitlements is essentially a lower income problem. Also they generally support the non tax of passive income (at least Armey's proposal seems to)- another veiled reverse robin hood boondoggle.

Here are some old details of the Armey flat tax.
pbs.org

Notice FICA/Social security, the most abusive tax for younger taxpayers is "off the table". This, and the fact that passive income doesn't seem to count as income makes Armey's proposal yet more BS in my eyes.

So who supports the fairest tax system then, assuming social security either needs to be paid for or abolished and passive income is certainly income? I can't find anybody who is willing to lump social security in with the general fund.

As far as taxing passive income the same as regular income most dem candidates seem to point to that direction with Howard Dean probably the most fair, he wants to kill the Bush tax cuts entirely which were nothing more than a siphon of money from the middle class to the wealthy non-contributors to society. I would support that, a complete repeal of the Bush tax cuts.

Since nobody is doing what I want wrt social security and passive income, all I can do is look to the two administrations we have had lately and decide who had better policy. Bush= largest deficits ever, no jobs, Clinton= surpluses and jobs galore. I'll take Clinton.
