Would you not think that the US would have marched into Pakistan in pursuit of terrorists.

No current need to do so because we are currently enjoying the cooperation and support of the Musharraf regime in working to quell/quash the Al-Qaeda and Taliban influence.

The Pakis are facing their own civil war and this struggle will likely continue for some years until the financing sources that funded those madrassas are fully terminated (Saudi Arabia..etc)

Thus, were the Musharraf regime to fall, or dramatically alter its allegiance with regard to the "war on terror", the US would DEFINITELY be required to reposition its policy towards Pakistan, as would major rivals such as India.

But what we are currently finding is that the tension over Kashmir is being dissipated between India and Pakistan, and Al-Qaeda leadership has apparently worn out its welcome and reportedly sought refuge in eastern Iran with the Jerusalem Front. And now Iran may become the greater focus for the Bush administration in upcoming months as the Bush administration attempts to confirm that report.

But the point is that information is being uncovered by the Bush administration that ties Saddam to Bin Laden.

That makes this an entirely justifiable war in the eyes of Americans, and will also likely go far towards making the European elitists choke on their own pride and be forced to admit Bush's justification for going to war.

And if could be that Bush was holding onto that information in order to use it as election surprise which nullifies the Democrats ability to continue criticizing the war in Iraq.

It would be politically smart to delay releasing this information as long as possible in order to use the "I told you so" approach to undermining his political opponents.
