Good point. In 1983, when I was a Trainee Programmer in India, my monthly salary was Rs 500 (approx US$40).

Today, a Trainee Programmer who is straight out of university starts off with about Rs 10,000.

Sure, inflation has a part to play, but them folks aren't dumb - they know the limits they need to push.
