That $669 billion DOD number gives an idea of the explosion (so to speak) of militarization, and would certainly shock Americans if we had any politicians with spine enough to speak about the numbers. Rapid ramp-up brings with it corruption, which goes unexamined. This says nothing of the expansion needed next year and underfunding of Afghanistan, a country the same size and population as Iraq but with 1/20th of the rebuild budget and in worse shape.

That's nothing compared to the shock of sundry Michael Meiring-type cases if anyone investigated how completely gov't-by-mob has taken over.

The near-universal corruption can't be contained, and should reach boiling point just about in time to see inflation exploding. It should be a difficult year for any Americans who don't yet have firm opinions on these issues; they'll be forced into understanding the curse of "interesting times".
