Bob,

Re: Natural Gas --

Apparently you've been on Mars for the last couple of years. Let me catch you up on what has been happening here back on the planet Earth. Last summer, we had the remarkable situation where the Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board gave a public presentation on natural gas. You might want to go out on the Internet and seek out the transcript. It is compelling, though not quite a bodice ripper.

The Chairman expressed, in much less opaque language than usual, that the U.S. is facing a crisis in natural gas supply. Currently we produce about 85% of our gas domestically. In spite of expanded drilling effort since the halcyon days in the late 1990s, there is no more gas being harvested today than there was 3-4 years ago. America has seemingly hit what is called Hubbert's Peak. Production only has one way to go, until a pipeline pokes up to Prudhoe. And that direction ain't going to allow us to shift base load for electricity to gas. Period. Ain't gonna happen. So we are stuck with our 103 nuke plants, myriad coal plants and some hydro for the foreseeable future. If you are wise, you'll realize that gas is going to be very problematic for a very long time.
