Given Kerry's penchant for what American Spirit calls "extreme sports", it seems obvious to me that he is suffering from some sort of delayed mid-life crisis.

A presidential run, certainly an "extreme sport", might provide him with the same thrill that he gets from wind surfing. I can visualize this conversation having occurred last year:

John Kerry: Dear, I am thinking about either diving down to the Titantic or running for President. Is that okay with you?

Theresa Heinz Kerry, her eyes narrowed: My preference would be that you take dive down to the Titantic. I'll pay for it.

John Kerry, a pleading look on his face: Honey, I could always do the dive after I was elected President.

Theresa Heinz Kerry, obviously irritated: John, I just told you that I would pay for the damn dive. Now, be a good boy and go fix your hair.

The only way Heinz Kerry could now give substantial money to Kerry's campaign would be to tear up her pre-nup and kill herself.

Ms. Heinz Kerry might want to give a wide berth to some of her husband's more fanatical supporters. <gg>
