Andrew,
Hi!!

RE: FWIW

It's worth a great deal... :o)

re: Sure, I agree with all of the above. But I believe that any reasonable calculation (if indeed one bothers to perform the calculation) indicates that the level of compensation here is far in excess of what is needed to attract and retain good people.

Even Michael Dell has publically stated that the performance of the stock basically blew him away...The issue and the current situation are not the same as they were when the options were the agreed upon means of paying for DELL's employees... Things (I agree wholeheartedly) have changed...And, yet we have the continuing issue (as you state) of attracting good people...So, one who is long on this stock and does forsee DELL becoming a $60 billion...$80 billion...$100 billion company has to be concerned with this issue...And, those of us who have been there for the ride also have to realize that what got DELL where it is today is because of the talent that accumulated because of the "golden handcuffs"...
And, FWIW what is the solution? :o)
How much is enough?

Side note: I'm sure you've heard this before...But, one reporter asked Babe Ruth what he thought about making more than the President of the United States? "I had a better year than he did"....And, let's face it Andrew...DELL has had nothing but great years...

Best, Kemble
