I could write a book about the difference between internet commerce in the U.S. vs Europe.

Bottom line: Europeans have barely scratched the surface of using the net and are at least 5 years behind the U.S. in most areas.

As an example: I wanted to buy an airline ticket and fly from Sardinia to Rome and then to Turkey. You think a website exists which makes this simple? Think again. It does exist if you stick with one carrier only, but try using multiple carries to minimize cost and it's virtually impossible. In most cases, major hubs are the only thing available online.

If Orbitz or Expedia launched a European site they would make a killing. I also have little doubt they have it in their long term strategic plan.

They need to get going while I'm living here! :)
