My ko stock, like my coms stock is more "core" portfolio-although sometimes I wonder about selling coms and getting cisco because coms is in a tax sheltered account which ko is not. Now with "core" portfolios, does one still sell when a down market is expected and maybe buy the same back later when the market crashes. Freeus, Core holdings typically are not sold regardless of market prediction. Market prediction is not an exact science although one might guess well at its move. The advantage to core holdings is the market appreciates in the long run even after "crashes". Once you sell a security believing the market will tank, you have placed that security in a more speculative situation. It is my preference to have part of my portfolio to be core holdings and leave them alone at all times. The otehr part of the portfolio I trade based on what I feel the market and that security will do. Does that help? Glenn
