Jay, you've got Oct. 04 wrong. Let’s recapitulate: March 2001 marked the end of the Bush's Honeymoon with the Kaboom! of the bubble. Situation was desperate by August 2001 (Enron et all). The 911 saved the Bush's administration diverting attention. Even "The Economic Collapse of 2001" thread changed its name, then, to BBR!!!

2002 gone and nothing improved. So the ensuing show down of Weapons of Mass Deception kept the world on the tip toes. The war came along to divert attention by early April this year.

The war is "won" but economy is in the dumps. Along came the fire barrage of "good" news in the economic front as a preparation for the elections campaign.

Now look back and you see: March 2001 plus 4 years is March 2005. That because there is always a 100-day honeymoon with any new government.

Whatever the new administration -never underestimate the arsenal of tricks that can be played to win an election as the liberation of the American prisoners in Iran engendered by Reagan (Oliver North et al) to secure his victory had shown- there will be a 100-day honey moon, hence by March 2005 there will be another kaboom.

Watch out! From a stranded whale in Snowshoe's Alaska, to a trapped mouse in Hawaii, any news will be milked for diverting the attention. Count with Elmat's lack of objectivity to keep a news watch in the next months.
