Fear is the biggest motivator of all. Brain is flooded with chemicals that make it stop thinking. Man gets ready to fight or flee: <<globalization/deflation/compression>> causes exactly that. Only the ones who can use his blood as air conditioning, keeping the head straight as the bits and pieces fly around his ears will come out alive and standing.
