Everyone I talk to seems so disgusted, yet powerless, when it comes to politics. That could change within hours. Basically, it's a pyramid scheme to take back the government using email to the average citizens' advantage. Think 6 degrees of separation. I used "Blind CC" (BCC) to protect my friends' privacy - I recommend you do the same. Only I know who I sent this to (well, now thanks to the Patriot Act, so will the Government. ) I also added some text to personalize to their automatic message it so it won't be so Spammy when Congress gets their mail messages. See the bottom of this message. That will be included in my message sent to Congress.
I've never done this before but it seemed novel - I apologize for any increase in your email load. It won't become a habit.(.. or will it?????) It takes 2 minutes and, what the hell, huh? Beats all those Viagra and Enlargement ads.

Dear friends,
President Bush is now asking Congress to hastily approve one of the biggest spending bills ever -- 820 billion dollars. Bush and his people are also cutting lots of last-minute, back-room deals, doing favors for their friends who run huge corporations, at our expense.
Last-minute giveaways in this bill include:
- Rolling back rules requiring that people be paid for overtime. Eight million hard-working families count on these fair compensation rules.
- Allowing media giants to monopolize even more local media outlets than before. Companies like Fox that have bought more outlets than current law allows would now be allowed to keep them. In fact, this bill raises the limit just the amount that Fox needs.
Please join me in calling on Congress to stop this bill, at:
moveon.org
Thanks. And pass it on.
PS:
I've added the following text to their boiler plate:
I've already seen a reduction of the rights workers have earned by being beaten by Pinkertons. First, it was the consultants, ostensibly because they were "so highly paid that they didn't need to be paid for hours past 40". Most consultants are simply professionals like myself, doing a job, sometimes for more time than they'd like. Americans already have the longest work year of any industrialized country. Clearly, that was the "nose of the camel". Can the company store be far behind?
On the issue of increasing allowable ownership for Fox and other broadcast outlets: Do we need to go back to the times of Yellow Rag Journalism? I sure hope not. |
